Drum Circle Sundays

July 26, 2026

If you've never been on Siesta Key beach an hour before sunset on a Sunday, here's what happens: people just start showing up with drums.

No stage, no schedule, no cover charge. A circle forms on that quartz-white sand, somebody sets a pulse, and for a couple of hours a few hundred strangers agree on a rhythm. Dancers in the middle. Kids orbiting the edges. The Gulf going gold behind it all.

I put it in a song once — the bridge of "Gone Coastal" finds her toes-in at the drum circle, just swayin' to the sea — because if you're going to lose somebody in Sarasota, that's where they'd go.

It's the most Sarasota thing there is: completely free, slightly out of tune, and better than most things you could buy a ticket for.
